I was in Venice for the First Schizophrenia International Research Society meeting. Venice happens to be one of Monjistha’s favourite destinations and it was just too tempting to resist and she and Mahi came along. I booked an apartment for 5 days just 100 yards away from St. Mark’s square. While I went of to the conference centre in Lido, Monjistha had the whole day to herself loitering around the narrow alleys doing window shopping. It was quite hot during the day but by evening it cooled down we spent a fair bit of time sitting around St. Mark’s square listening to the music as well as spending time people watching around Rialto.
I did take one day off after the conference and we went to Murano and visited some of the churches, a museum as well as some glass making furnaces. It proved to be a costly trip as we ended up buying a set of 6 champagne glasses and a decanter with a glass tray. However the most fond memory of this particular trip was a visit to the store house of venetian art at the Accademia de la galleria.
